This was a letter to the editor in The Washington Post on Thanksgiving Day:

As a pastor’s wife, I have observed Christians of every stripe for more than 60 years. The Post’s Nov. 19 article “Emphasizing the ‘giving’ in ‘Thanksgiving,’ ” [Metro], about members of the Washington Ethical Society giving to others, confirmed one of my basic convictions: “Don’t tell me what you believe or what you don’t believe; show me how you live.

Dorothy Harrison, Frederick

This Holiday, I’m thankful that most people in the world are decent human beings.  And that the noisy pushers of religious extremism have not managed to undermine their basic humanity and compassion.  Thank you Dorothy for this reminder.

If christians actually followed Dorothy’s advice, we would not be vilified for not believing the most absurd lies ever written.
